At db clay, I’m responsible for printing our limited Ms. Frey wallets. We typically print these in batches of about 200, although some are as limited as 1. The print is known as Ms. Frey because of a lawyer lady that has helped us to become what we are today, out of the kindness of her heart.

This is a time-lapse of me prepping my screen print station and doing some test prints.

I was extremely excited to be able to print the new color-ways, as well as choose them. I printed about 10 different options, and everyone at db clay chose the top 2:

All of the wallets are made from our own custom-engineered textile called “Tope”, which is PVC + Chlorine free, biodegradable, and vegan. The images are taken from our own life experiences - the brown print came from a mental institution in Oregon called Dammasch. The wallet with all of the wigs on it was taken in Portland (where the company started) by our crazy photographer Steve Steckly. The dammasch print was obtained one illegal night years ago that collectively changed the mindset of the company’s members, and sent us down the path of taking over the world. It could be a long day today, I walked in after about 8 days away from the office to almost 3000 new emails in my inbox… Hopefully they’ll be sorted through by mid 2008!

One email I responded to over the break was from the editor of LifeHack.org, a great guy that db clay is doing a promotion with.  Our wallets are stirring up some attention - we’ve had a great holidays and 2008 will be a huge year!

In 2008 we’ll have many new products coming out - more than 30 new wallet designs and a variety of brand new products, including a women’s wallet. Keep your eyes peeled for it them!

At our wallet company (db clay), we pride ourselves on our wallets’ durability, style, and the culture behind them.
