The Frames: Falling Slowly

I think this is a great song, enjoy!

Andrea Bocelli and Sarah Brightman - Con Te Partiro

One of my absolute favorites of all time. What I wouldn’t give to go.

Dave Gahan - Kingdom

Great song, check out Dave Gahan singing “Kingdom” below!

babysitting the cowboy

My roommate has a lot of great songs. Most of them I have heard in the early development stages all the way to being performed with his band, Lander. Tyler is an amazing musician and the whole album, “Orange Chrome Sky“, is a testament to his talent and dedication. I finally decided “Babysitting the Cowboy” is my favorite song off of it but believe me, they’re all great.

My memories are a series of backyard cul-de-sacs
That smells of fresh cut grass and juniper-
Wyoming sunsets burned!
Crickets sang their hearts as the sky turned orange
And mother called us in for the day.

In one particular backyard
Sat a stagnant John Deer tractor that remained
Green all year round
As it rested quietly in the shade
Of the Bellevue Alley shrubbery
No more than ten feet from the fence line.

A younger me could turn the ruins of
Once Great Machines into a dream.

This useless tractor was fully functional
In the eyes of a younger me.
Those eyes saw fearlessly a cowboy.
Buckles and leather and mouths to feed
And dried up fields desperately
Need a farmer’s touch.

A younger me could go and do great things in the shade
While the rest of the yard was green!
-How it glistened in the sunlight.

Lisa. Please watch over me!
Write it down in your memory that I-
I was a child lost in a daydream.
She would say that only boring people get bored.
So, today I’ll be plowing fields and
Corralling cattle before the dust storm.
Disintegrating are the chances for our lunch break-
“There is too much work to be done and
The cattle won’t milk themselves.

other side

After a long and violent internal debate, I would say “Other Side” is my favorite Josh Ritter song. From his album “Golden Age of Radio”, it’s lyrics have always spoken to me. This is narrowly my favorite by Josh, I enjoy damn near every song he writes. Check them all out at his website.

Say the west is a story we made up to erase
Conestoga wagons left tracks you can see from space
From the Northwest passage to the Great Divide
Everybody’s looking for the other side

I’m still waiting for the whiskey to whisk me away
And I’m still waiting for the ashtray to lead me astray
I twist the culdesacs into one way signs
I ain’t going round in circles on the other side

So at night I sit and watch for stars to stay
They wink and then they’re gone down the Milky Way
But when You’re left in the middle of the Midwest sky
Everywhere you look is the Other Side
