Some things I’ve learned

Brown does not equal Green
Green does not equal Grey
Grey does not equal Blue Curacao
Blue Curacao does equal Brown
As does Mexican omelet and Biscuits and Gravy
I guess that equals Grey too.

Make sense?!? It shouldn’t :)

Sequential Credentials #1: Flugtag San Francsico

As a sophomore in college, I knew very little. I still know very little, but am much more aware of the fact currently. But back then, the world was mine. So, I decided (on a whim) to take a road trip with about 60 other like-minded individuals on a greyhound bus to San Francisco. The trip included three automotive break-downs, one mental one, sweaty jeans, and copious amounts of red bull, alcohol, and fun (in that order).

After the 13th Red Bull, I knew I needed to stop (only drinking Red Bull- it was time to mix). Soon after, the jitters of way too much caffeine subsided and a smooth transition to raging drunk began. God bless you, San Francisco Flugtag.

With me were many friends, including one that wasn’t as much at the time but is now. Graeme Mitchell does some amazing photography in New York. Check out Graeme Mitchell Photography for his portfolio.

Many images he’s taken have turned into wallets such as lights of spain, on your right.

Driving to Badger Lake

As Garett and I pitched and rolled in his Subaru, I thanked god I was(n’t) driving and was drinking.  It felt more like we were in a sailboat on a violent sea than a Garett’s Subaru Outback on a remote back-road.  Luckily the destination (Badger Lake) was well worth the journey.  Or was it the journey that made the destination so sweet?  The world may never know.  Fear was never an option in the three photo-series- just plenty of Bud Light, some good conversation, and an itchy trigger finger (for the camera of course).

Bed Supper Club

Many of the bars I frequented in Thailand had very unique personalities. They varied from brothels with great drink specials (the ONLY reson I was there) to the likes of bed supper club. This place is incredible- the decor changes with the mood, except for the large snow white beds you dine on. Half of the space was devoted to this, while the other half was dedicated to a couple of bars, a crowded dance floor, and a dj that spins the latest hits as well as great house music. It seemed a bit pricey at the time, but that’s comparing it to places that had all you could drink specials for under $5. We went there a number of times, and it was always a great time.

I remember being pretty toasted there one night and thought it was a great idea to wear the brass knuckles I carried with me. I still shake my head in shame for doing it, but at the time it seemed genious.  There I was, dancing up a storm wearing a weapon illegal in most countries.  Someone from security quickly relieved me of them, but didn’t even kick me out.  The staff are really chill and fun, just like the patrons.

Basically if you’re looking for a good date spot or party spot (or both) in Bangkok, put this place near the top of your list.  Just make sure you leave the brass knuckles at home.  You can see more at their website, as well as check out the dj’s that are spinning and any other events they have going.

Boutiques + Busch

Seattle has been a nice break from Portland.  The city stresses me out, but I still find some simple joy from wandering the streets of Seattle searching for new accounts.  I’ve learned a lot about sales, and appreciate what a difficult job it is- I couldn’t imagine it full time.  The traffic SUCKS, but there are more stylish and cute girls up here than I’ve seen in a while.  db clay met with Nordstrom this morning, Brandon did a great job in the meeting and it went great!  We visited a lot of our current accounts and some new ones, it’s fun walking into a shop and trying to sell something a person didn’t know they wanted.  Last night was fun, I know I had at least two pitchers to myself, and I didn’t sleep much.  Brandon and I walked to some shit bar across the street from our motel (in a seedy neighborhood) when we saw they had $5.50 pitchers of Busch.  The night was fun but the morning came early.
