1967: Bush’s first NY Times appearance- Defending Fraternity Branding

Yes that’s right. George W. Bush’s first appearance in the national news (New York Times) was defending his fraternity. More specifically, his fraternities use of an old practice know as iron branding.

Basically a bunch of half-naked guys get together and poke each other in the ass with a red-hot coat hanger.

This raises a lot of questions, but also answers a lot of them.

For example-

Question: why does the president stutter so much and make fool of himself on such a regular basis?

Answer: because he was so busy doing blow and attempting to touch other boys asses in college to be bothered with such things as “grammar” or “book-learning”- Bush has street smarts. If the street happens to be full of half asleep grizzly bears and Bush has his “branding hanger”. Oh wait, I take that back. But he should try that. It would solve a lot of problems.

Here is a New York Times article about it
